![]() Free.The.Media is a convergence of artists, activists and technnologists working collectively to create autonomous self- sustainable infrastructures and open source software tools that enbale access and the free exchange of information in the digital world. Free.The.Media creates a platform for the open exchange and exploration of ideas and issues of social importance through live events, workshops and online interactions between major thinkers and practitioners from diverse backgrounds, toward a synthesis of ideas and experience that will lead to a greater understanding of our roles in contemporary society. Free.The.Media is a non-profit, artist run membership based organization funded primarily by its members, who collectively participate in shaping the principles of the social space of their mutually supported public network. Free.The.Media was founded in 2002 by PAUL GARRIN, FRANK MORALES, CRISTINE WANG. We wish to thank James Andrews, Dan Berchenko, Ricardo Dominguez, Chris Flash, Marcy Gordon, Petra Hanzlik, Diane Ludin, Emil Memon, Matej Mljac, Don Ritter, Lee Songe, Satomi Sugishita, Paul Zeoul and Pawel Wojtasik, and of course our live and remote guest panelists Professor Saskia Sassen, John Perry Barlow, Eduardo Kac and Geert Lovink, for making our inaugural event a huge success.
